암호학 cryptology

 

A와 B 둘은 둘다 요리 솜씨가 있어서 집안의 요리 일을 정확히 반으로 나눠 하고 있었다.

A and B were proficient in cookery and cooked the cuisine in a neatly half of their busy schedule. Among them, one made the breakfast in Mon Wed Fri and the other cooked the dinner Tues Thurs and Sat. Lunch was packed sandwich; and Sunday was always special for both of them.

A와B가 서로 만난 건 어렸을 때였고, 부모님이 서로 친해서 둘은 카드놀이도 하고 서로 책도 빌려준다 이후 A가 대학 입학하면서 B는 A에게 과외를 받게 된다

A and B met each other when they were young. As they came to play cards under parents who were enchanted with each other’s families. A enrolled in college, and one year the slightly younger B was tutored by eager and faithful A during the coming spring and summer.  

B가 대학에 입학하고 두 가족이 함께 휴가 여행을 가면서 둘은 많은 대화를 하게 된다. 

B having successfully entered college, the two families were on a long holiday together,  where A and B went into a very conversational relationship

둘의 인격적인 대화는 둘에게 많은 것을 가르쳐 주었다 둘은 서로에게 끌리면서 베프가 된다 그럼 언제 짝꿍이 되었나?

Their talks taught them both a lot of things. They were very much drawn to each other, and became best friends. So when did they become a devoted couple? Goodness knows. I think, though, they were already fast together this spring.

아무튼 요리책에 심긴 비밀의 러브레시피 코드. 요리책은 암호학을 공부하는 사람들에게 초중급 교과서가 되어주었다

Anyway, shown to both of them by an amazing expert of traditional cuisine at B’s college, they could soon find out lovely hidden coded messages in intermediate college handbooks and magazines on cookery.   

우선 재료를 구성하는 단어 첨과 끝 철자를 한데 모은다. 예를 들면 Cauliflower하면 C와 R가 단어 cater가 된다.

For a start, one put together the first letter and the end of the sentence in a chosen recipe. Deduce c and r from the spell of cauliflower and comes out the word “cater.”  

레씨피 재료와 알파벳은 현 상황을 세부적으로 의미하길 거듭했다.

The alphabets and ingredients in the recipes nearly always signified the current political situations to tiny detail.

둘의 관계 초창기에 둘의 친구가 되어 주었던 암호학은 둘 이가 깊어지면서 마무리되었다.

Well so be it with cryptology, which was only present in the early stages of their relationship.

이 커플은 가까운 친구와 가족만이 참석한 비밀 결혼식을 올리고 함께 살게 되었다. 서로를 위해 요리를 해 주다가 건강을 위해 락토 채식을 하기로 결정을 내린다

This newly tied couple was married in a secret ceremony with closest friends and their families, going on to live together on their own. They continued to cook for each other until both of them decided to look out for their health and go into lacto-vegetarianism themselves.    

A는 치즈와 버섯요리, B는 허브와 곡물과 양념을 주로 담당하게 되는데, 여러가지 레시피 책을 뒤져보다가 여러가지 요리를 실험해 보고

A was in charge of cheese and mushrooms, B into herbs, grains and spice. They searched  recipe books and magazines, then made various experiments.

마침내 자기들만의 요리책을 만들어보기로 하며 마침내 Vegetarian Society 소식지에 이 커플이 제조한 레시피가 실리게 되었고, 알음알음으로 제품화까지 되었다 

A and B finally decided to put both their mental energy into a cookery book of their own. A recipe they had created was featured in a Vegetarian Society newsletter, and stepped on to commercialization by word of mouth.

둘은 기뻐서 난로가 있는 1층 거실에서 키스하며 기쁨을 나눈다

When they became aware of this, they were so happy they kissed each other in their ground floor chamber equipped with the stove on.

영양학을 공부하기도 한다

They also studied nutrition in fat, detailed books.

둘은 Vegetarian Society를 방문해서 B앤B에 묵으며 여러 코스들을 돈다 그리고 나서 맨유 경기를 보러 간다

The happy couple made a visit to Vegetarian Society, stayed in a B&B, and took cookery courses. And finally! Their own pre-booked match featuring Man U themselves, in the Mancunian stadium.

맨유가 꼴을 넣자 열광이 있었고 둘은 서로를 감싸안는다. 경기가 끝나서 사람들이 흩어질 때 청소부를 보러 경기장으로 내려간다

When Man U scored a goal, there was much fervour and A and B naturally hugged each other. After the match ended and people spread out, the couple went down to the green to see the male cleaner clothed in white.  

B는 프리랜서 저널리스트이고 A는 공인 회계사이다. 둘은 청소부가 게이라는 말을 전날 밤 게이클럽에서 들은 바 있어서 분명 화제가 될 그를 꼬시기 위해 내려간 것이다

We note their characteristics: B is a freelance journalist and A is a chartered accountant. The night before in the Mancunian gay bar, the couple had heard that the cleaner for the upcoming match was gay. They were trying to hit on him, who would be very soon and very much bound to be the specific talking topic of the moment in the bar of course.

둘의 성격은 A는 철저하고 B는 자유분방하고 정의롭다 경력이 성격대로 간다.

The couple, too, had their differences : A was immaculate, and B is carefree and just, at the same time. Each of their career went their own characteristic ways.   

청소부가 수줍은 편이라 게이클럽은 못 가고 채식이면 vegsoc 오라고 명함을 주고 간다

The cleaner, who was rather shy, could not be persuaded to go to gay bars or clubs. However B told him that he could come to Vegetarian Society where he would find out about vegetarianism. He was given two name cards : one from the Society, and the other for B himself.    

여기서 청소부 C의 일상으로 소설이 넘어간다.

Below you can see a slice of the day to day of C’s life.  

C는 마흔 나이에 경기장에 취직했다 맨유 경기를 표 안 사고 맘껏 볼 수 있다 남친은 유스호스텔 데스크를 보고 있다 둘은 열살 차이다

C got his job at the Man U stadium at the age of 40. He was able to see the Man U’s matches without the bother of trying to book them in advance. His boyfriend is at the front desk of a Mancunian youth hostel. They have ten years between them.    

열심히 돈 모아서 Studio를 사서 퀸사이즈 침대를 사려고 한다 지금은 각자 따로 산다

They are trying to save up and purchase a studio and a queen-size bed for their own in the center of Manchester. At the moment they are living separately.

아침마다 안드로이드폰으로 안부를 나누고 스몰토크를 한다

They greet each other and make small talks via their smartphones every morning.

곧 여름 휴가철이고 C와 여친은 기차표를 사서 콘월의 틴타겔 성으로 놀러가고 싶다 둘다 아서왕의 전설을 믿고 싶어한다

Soon it will be summer holidays, and this summer C’s boyfriend and C hope to book two rail tickets to travel to Cornwall. They both want to believe in the myths of Tintagel Castle and of King Arthur and the Round Table.
